Taking a Breakthrough Industrial Technology to the World

How Salt, a Brisbane marketing and creative agency, turned two decades of patented engineering into a brand, industrial website and search presence that finally matches the technology.

The Challenge

RPR invented induction coating removal in Norway in 2002. The technology heats the steel beneath a coating and lifts it away in clean sheets, with no grit, no water and almost no dust. It has been proven on Shell facilities, Statoil’s Troll A platform, Eurotunnel rail wagons and Japan’s Kanmon Bridge.

Two decades on, it still hadn’t been brought to market properly. The brand was weak, and the website failed to show the scale of what the technology can do.

  • A category with no search demand. Buyers search for sandblasting and paint removal. Almost no one searches for a method they have never heard of.
  • Capabilities buried. Removal of extremely thick coatings, hazardous coatings like lead, PCB and asbestos, and silent around-the-clock operation sat inside long proposals and translated PDFs.
  • Dated brand assets. The website, data sheets and sales material undersold a world-class product.
  • A hard deadline. A major US industry expo was weeks away, with a presentation due to head office in Norway.
  • A sensitive industry. The conventional blasting sector scrutinises every claim, so every line had to hold up to an engineer.

The Strategy

Salt built the strategy on one insight: engineers, specifiers and asset owners buy proof, and they can only specify a method they know exists. Every decision served discoverability and credibility.

  • Name and own the category. We defined Induction Coating Removal (ICR) as a category and positioned RPR as its global reference point in Google and AI answers.
  • Position RPR alongside conventional methods. Contractors make most purchasing calls and paint manufacturers control warranties. Framing induction as an upgrade to existing workflows lowers the barrier to trial and keeps the industry onside.
  • Lead with proof. Named projects, real outcomes and recognisable clients like Shell, BP and BHP. Every claim backed by a completed job.
  • Structure by asset. Specifiers search by the asset in front of them, so the site is organised around sectors: storage tanks, pipelines, bridges, ship and marine, offshore, mining and hazardous coatings.
  • Separate the technology from the service. RPR owns the technology story and global network. Its Australian partner ACR owns local delivery. Two sites, one ecosystem, each strengthening the other in search.
  • Build for search and AI from day one. Clean architecture and structured content so Google and AI assistants can understand, rank and cite RPR.

What Salt Built

Strategy, creative and development were delivered in-house and fast-tracked for the expo.

  • Brand positioning and messaging across RPR and ACR
  • Custom wordpress website design and build, from UX architecture through to launch
  • Industry sector pages mapped to how specifiers search
  • Case study system with sector filters and headline results, built so the RPR team can publish new projects themselves
  • Interactive global distributor map
  • Induction process animation, company video and on-site content shoot
  • Sales presentation, technical data sheet, brochure and print collateral
  • Technical SEO and analytics setup, plus domain migration from Norway and CMS training for the team

The Result

The wordpress website, sales deck and company video were drafted in weeks, ready for the US expo. The site launched in April. Then the search program switched on.

Within two months:

  • Website traffic climbing month on month, led by organic search
  • The United States became RPR’s largest traffic source, proof of genuine global reach
  • A leading share of voice in AI answers on induction coating removal across ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, alongside ACR, well ahead of the nearest competitor
  • AI assistants now referring visitors directly to the site

All of this before the content program had properly ramped up. The foundation did the heavy lifting.

“The website turned out amazing!”

Jan Uhrle, ACR Tech

What’s Next

With the foundation performing, Salt now runs ongoing LinkedIn, SEO and AI engine marketing for RPR and ACR. The focus is thought leadership that educates asset owners and specifiers early, so induction coating removal gets written into the specification.

What does Salt Agency actually do?

Salt is a performance and creative marketing agency in Brisbane. Salt builds the strategy, produces the creative, runs the media and reports on what it earned. One team owns the concept and the result.

What marketing services does Salt offer?

Websites, SEO, Google Ads, Meta Ads, organic social, photography and video, branding and design, and fractional CMO. CRM setup, tracking and landing pages are delivered inside wider engagements.

What size businesses does Salt work with?

Established businesses, typically mid-market to enterprise, with a committed marketing budget and a growth target attached. Salt keeps a short client list so every engagement gets senior attention.

Am I locked into a long contract?

Retainers run month to month. Website builds are project based with a fixed scope and a fixed price.

Who will I be working with day to day?

One account manager as the single point of contact, with the specialists delivering the work reachable directly. Decisions are made in hours.

How much does marketing with Salt cost?

Retainers start at $2,480+GST per month and website builds range heavily. Final investment depends on scope, channels and pace. Every proposal carries a fixed price with deliverables itemised.

Is Salt a performance agency or a creative agency?

Both, and the two are inseparable at Salt. Creative that cannot be measured and media with nothing worth running are equally ineffective. The same team owns both.

Does Salt only work with Brisbane businesses?

Salt is based in Albion, Brisbane, and works with clients across Australia. Discovery and strategy run in person for Brisbane clients and remotely elsewhere.

How long until I see results?

Paid search and paid social typically produce measurable results inside the first month. SEO compounds over six to twelve months. Every engagement reports on the first Tuesday of the month.

What happens after the first call?

Salt audits the accounts, website and competitors before a proposal is written. The findings are handed over either way. A proposal follows with fixed pricing and scope itemised.
